Vehicle Information – Boa-Ski Racer Snowmobile
Boa-Ski snowmobiles were built in La Guadeloupe, Quebec, Canada from the late 1960s through the 1970s, with production peaking at around 40,000 units in 1971 and a dealer network that spread across Canada and the northern U.S. The brand quickly earned a reputation for dependable trail sleds and aggressive performance machines that punched above their weight.
High-performance Boa-Ski models and racers were typically powered by free-air Kohler engines mounted in lightweight aluminum tunnels, a combination that made them strong contenders on ovals and ice drags. Many sleds used wide 18-inch tracks for extra bite and flotation, along with simple, rugged bogie or slide-rail rear suspensions that could take race abuse as well as weekend trail pounding.
The Boa-Ski Racer captures that spirit: a compact, nimble chassis with sharp steering, strong acceleration from its free-revving engine, and just enough suspension to keep it planted while the skis dance over ruts and ice. Today, surviving Boa-Ski sleds—especially race-oriented models—are prized by collectors for their distinctive styling, Quebec heritage, and the role they played in the wild growth years of snowmobile racing.
